About Malvern Bitters

Malvern Bitters Ltd is an award-winning small batch craft bitters company based on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. Its original, flagship product, is Malvern Inky Blue Bitters, which won a silver medal in the London Spirits Competition 2024 and GOLD in the World Drinks Awards 2024. The perfect addition to aperitifs, cocktails, spirits and other drinks too, it will not only revive, season and enhance the flavour of your drink, but will change its colour from a deep blue to a vibrant purple depending on the choice of mixer used.

Malvern Bitters is the creation of Pippa Sanderson, a Malvern lady ‘of a certain age’ who found there was a certain piquancy missing from her usual tipple. The traditional G&T just wasn’t cutting it anymore and she wasn’t particularly enamoured with ‘flavoured’ gins either, finding them a little too sweet.

Research resulted in a treat for her tastebuds in the form of bitters, such as Angostura. She became curious as to whether she could create her own bitters by combining a blend of natural botanicals and adding them to her G&T that would add depth and complexity, balance the sweetness of flavoured gins and produce an elixir that looked and tasted simply divine . . . and if the recipe included local Malvern water and ingredients traditionally used to alleviate the symptoms of several age-related conditions, including menopause and arthritis, then the perfect bitters trinity would be born.  

After much experimentation and tinkering to perfect the recipe, the wonderfully aromatic Malvern Inky Blue Bitters was created; and you don’t even have to be going through the menopause, or have arthritis, to enjoy it!

Containing 40% (ABV) alcohol, Malvern Inky Blue Bitters is carefully crafted in small batches for around a month using a blend of 16 botanicals.

Disclaimer

The town of Malvern has been associated with health benefits for nearly 1,000 years and although it can’t be claimed our bitters will alleviate any ailments at all, the natural synergy between bitters and Malvern is unmistakable.
